Cleanrooms are environments that maintain strict control over temperature, humidity, air quality, airborne particles, and other environmental factors.
Depending on the level of cleanliness required, cleanrooms are regulated and classified into various classes based on the number of airborne particulates allowed per cubic meter.
Cleanroom environments enable the production of sensitive products like semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and electronic devices.
Constructing a cleanroom is a highly involved process, and so are the processes that the equipment inside the cleanroom performs.
Here, we’ll briefly describe the types of equipment required to maintain efficient cleanroom operation, including necessary cleanroom accessories and supplies from Liberty Industries.
A tacky mat® captures foot-borne dry contaminants before technicians enter the cleanroom. Liberty’s Tacky Mat® 800030 series is the most cost-effective solution for maximizing protection at the ground level. It functions by an adhesive mat which, when soiled, peels away to expose a new clean mat underneath. Each Tacky Mat® 800030 series comprises 30 disposable sheets.
Shoe brush machines capture floor contaminants using a timing belt-driven brush. A gear motor drives the bottom brush assembly, which automatically captures dirt and other contaminants. The captured debris is trapped in a base area of unit with a pull-out drawer for easy disposal in the 2010SC Series. To maximize the capture of foot-borne dirt, our shoe brush machines support integration with an optional Tacky Mat®.
A pass-thru or pass-through communicator is a chamber for transferring materials or packages in and out of the cleanroom. The two-door chamber safely transitions items by preventing both doors from being open at the same time and cutting unnecessary foot traffic. Also called package transfer units, transfer hatches, or pass-through airlocks, the pass-thru enclosure is typically made of stainless steel, with the option for doors with electromagnetic interlocking.
Even after removing contaminants, cleanrooms require specific types of surface coverings, such as laminar flow table tops, to ensure microbes and particulate shedding don’t create new contaminants. Our 4003 Series Horizontal Laminar Flow Table Top unit uses ¾” white novaply and high-pressure plastic laminate to seal surfaces and prevent contaminants from adhering to the table. They also come in stainless steel and can be installed as standalone or side-by-side tables.
An air shower uses pressurized air in a controlled area to remove contaminants on workers and devices. They’re an important means of efficiently protecting cleanroom environments. Liberty’s AS-200E air shower is ideal for any traffic and/or industries that depend on fast but effective contaminant control. They can be manufactured 4 x 4 x 10 for single person entry/usage up to long tunnels 15’-30’ or longer for additional personnel usage in higher traffic areas.
